  • About me

  • A resident of Western Pennsylvania, I am a teacher of sixth graders in the Franklin Area School District. My pride and joy is my daughter, Amanda, who just graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in music education. Amanda is one of the most accomplished French hornists in the area. An experienced Internet user, I began my online career on our dear, departed eWorld. From eWorld I migrated to the wonderful new community called "Talk City." (Blessings on you, Peter Friedman!) You will find me in Talk City hosting as LyriCCC. As Forum Manager of The InSite, a community for teens who want to take positive charge of their own lives, I have the opportunity to meet and work with many young people. I also host in the following areas in Talk City:

    #KindSpirits-Mondays, 4:30pmPT - a nonreligious "life support" group
    #ParentCenter-Tuesdays, 3pmPT - - The Adolescent Years
    Trivia!!-Wednesdays, 7pmPT - in the Talk City #EduCenter
    #EduCenter-Thursdays, 6pmPT -LyriCCC's EduCorner in Talk City
    New2TalkCity
    TownTalk
    TownTalk1
    ParentChat
    ....and various conferences for #TheInSite.

  • Australia
I am about to embark on my very first trip to Australia. This is a lifelong dream, and I have been saving money for the trip for a long time. While there, I will be meeting my very best friend in the entire world, Geoffrey Wild, and also his children, his brother Russell, and my dear friend and "sister" Noeline Purdy. Why do I love Australia? Well, I love the people, the animals (especially marsupials), and the rugged beauty of the country. I plan to post piccies from my trip on my page, so watch for them.
  • Art and Music
It is my belief that art touches each of us in some very important ways. My favorite artists are Alexander Calder, who made magnificent mobiles as well as sculptures, The pointillist artist Seurat; Picasso; the aboriginal artists of Australia, and many others. My favorite graphic artist is David Glen of California. I met David in Talk City, and he kindly shared some of his magnificent work with me. Music reflects my many moods, my fears, my hopes, and my dreams. I love all kinds of music from classical to alternative, from jazz to folk. I can't imagine a world without music!
  • Writing
Writing is very important to me. I have written many poems, sets of song lyrics, stories, and articles. As a teacher of language arts (reading, writing, grammar, spelling, and literature), I believe that it is my responsibility to be an active writer and to model writing skills for my students. The lyricist I most admire is Neil Peart of the Canadian rock band Rush. Peart has written some stunningly impactful lyrics in the two decades that he has been the band's percussionist. I am very fortunate to have a dear friend who is a poet. Her name is Elizabeth Curry, and she is at once the most brilliant and the kindest woman I know.
